Web Desk: Conflicting flight-tracking information has triggered a clarification after a local media report claimed that a Qatar Airways aircraft travelling from Doha to Sialkot had instead landed at Jammu airport in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir.
Sialkot records contradict reported Jammu landing
The report concerned Qatar Airways flight QR630, which operates between Doha and Sialkot.
Records from Sialkot International Airport indicate that the aircraft reached Sialkot on Sept. 27. The airport’s flight information lists QR630 as arriving at 2:08 a.m., against a scheduled arrival time of 2:30 a.m.
FlightStats also records QR630 as a Doha-Sialkot service scheduled to arrive on Sept. 27, although its historical data does not provide a complete positional track for the flight.
Online tracking data creates confusion
The conflicting report appears to have originated from aircraft-position information displayed by online tracking platforms.
Flightradar24’s historical listing for the Sept. 26 QR630 service currently shows the flight as “Diverted to IXJ.” IXJ is the International Air Transport Association code for Jammu airport.
The display is inconsistent with Sialkot airport’s official arrival record for QR630. Therefore, the available information does not by itself establish that the aircraft physically landed in Jammu.
Officials cited in the clarification said the apparent discrepancy may have resulted from GPS interference or spoofing affecting aircraft-position data in the region.
Airport authorities report no Jammu incident
Information obtained from Sialkot airport indicates that no corresponding report of QR630 landing at Jammu was recorded there.
The airport’s duty air traffic control coordinator has also reportedly sent a detailed communication to the Directorate of Operations at Pakistan Airports Authority headquarters to document the matter officially.
The flight has also been identified online by the callsign QTR17B. That callsign is associated with the Qatar Airways service operating as QR630 and does not represent a separate flight.
Further verification awaited
The conflicting records highlight the difference between live or historical flight-tracking displays and official airport movement records.
While the Flightradar24 entry currently shows a Jammu diversion, Sialkot International Airport records confirm the arrival of QR630 at Sialkot on Sept. 27.
Authorities are expected to provide further details on the discrepancy, including whether navigation interference affected the aircraft’s location as displayed by online tracking services.
Until additional official information is released, the available records do not independently substantiate the claim that Qatar Airways flight QR630 landed at Jammu airport.
